Bliss: Hearing this freaking
lady go off on kids, ‘cause they don’t freaking get this crap? If you would
just get up an’ teach ‘em instead of handing ‘em a freaking packet, yo. There’s
kids in here that don’t learn like that. They need to learn face to face.
You’re just getting mad because I’m pointing out the obvious.
Teacher: No, ‘cause you
wastin’ my time.
Bliss: No, I’m not wasting
your time. I’m telling you what you need to do. You want kids to come in your
class, you want ‘em to get excited for this, you gotta come in here and you
gotta make ‘em excited. You want a kid to change and start doing better you
gotta touch his freaking heart. Can’t expect a kid to change if all you do is
just tell ‘em.
Teacher: Bye
Bliss: You gotta, you gotta
take this job serious. This is the future of this nation. And when you come in
here like you did last time and make a statement about, “Oh this is my paycheck,”
Indeed it is but this is my country’s future and my education.
Teacher: I respect that. Can
you go outside please? I’ve got things to do.
Bliss: But there’s a limit.
When I’m not bitching but simply making an observation.
Teacher: Ok, ok.
Bliss: And now I will leave.

Teacher: Goodbye
Bliss: And if you would like
I’ll teach you a little more so you can actually learn how to teach a freaking
class.
Teacher: No, you’re not
welcome back.
Bliss: Because since I got
here I’ve done nothin’ but read packets.
Teacher: Go.
Bliss: So don’t try and take
credibility for teaching me jack.
Teacher: I’m not. Just go.

ReplyDeleteThe fact that you ask this question shows that there's a problem, one that Bliss pointed out. If teachers actually taught, and encouraged critical thinking skills the way they're supposed (not suppose) to, then you wouldn't have to ask that question, you'd be able to answer the question yourself. The problem is that teachers no longer engaging in teaching or teaching students how to think independently causes lasting effects not just in their lives, but in society. We live in a world of ignorance, where people follow blindly with whatever rhetoric gets to them first, because they're incapable of figuring out answers for themselves. And we see countless problems in society that are a direct consequence of this "teachers" attitude and lack of conviction. As Bliss said, it's his countries future, not just a paycheck. And our country is not in a good spot. Maybe there's a correlation between a lack of education and a failing society that still wants to call themselves the best country in the world. And your inability to figure this out on your own is one of the biggest indictments of this problem I could imagine. On that note, are you the teacher in the video, still bitter after 12 years, seeking to discredit the message by pretending there isn't a lesson here? Based on the video, lessons aren't what the teacher was there for, just money, so it would make sense that a decade letter she still hadn't learned hers. So, is that you?
