If you haven't already figured out how to round up some
scholarly research, here are some steps you can follow:
This link, http://libraryguides.chabotcollege.edu/articledatabases,
will take you to the Chabot College online data base. There you can find
published articles that have credibility.
On this page, you have many different options for where to look
for your article. "Academic Search Premier," is the data base that
has it all, but feel free to look around the others.
I suggest you search for things using the advance search option.
In this option, you can choose whether you want Full Texts, which you do, and
if you want to read articles from newspapers, books, etc.
When you are in these databases, choose the words you want to
search wisely. Be as specific as possible. For example, if my topic had to do
with the passion of high school kids being squashed by the loss of creative
programs, my search words would be, creative arts, high school, loss.
If you don't get the results you want, try out new
keywords.
Bring you articles to class (9/03)
Print out your written work and bring it to class (9/03)
Read the instructions I gave you about the homework carefully.
If you are confused about this section, "Form an opinion
about how the concept you focused on in the Passion Project intersects
with the paper focus you developed on the worksheet we did in Tuesday’s class,
'Writing Assignment: Rule of Three,'" think of the competition we had at the end of
class. I am asking you to make a connection between the big concept/focus you
developed in class and The Passion Project. If it is easier for you to
make a connection to some of the smaller concepts you developed on that
worksheet, then please feel free to do so.
