Writing Assignment: Rule of Three (Due 8/29)

Remember, most concepts start out too big and need to be narrowed down. Follow the instructions below to narrow down your big ideas.

Writing Assignment: Rule of Three due (08/29)
***Always ask yourself questions when you come up with a topic. Questions such as, who and what does this affect, why is it important to know, what can be gained from a change, what might be a counter argument to the stance I am taking.

Part I.
Develop a focus that invites a discussion about something in our educational system or practices that we should rebel against

Or

If you believe that we should not be disobedient within education make a statement that tells the reader why

Example: We should rebel against the expectation to be passive in the classroom

What are the values and beliefs that drive you to pose the above argument (provide at least three)? This will help you practice meta-cognition, which means thinking about your thinking.

A)

Ex: We all learn in different ways

B)

     Ex: Student voice is important

C)

Ex: Obedience can hurt a person
Part II.

What are the issues attached to the stance you took inside those values. Think of three underline concepts for each one.

For example:

We all learn in different ways.
1)   Visual
2)   Kinesthetic
3)   Auditory

1)
            1a)

2a)

            3a)

2)

            1b)

            2b)

            3b)

3)

            1c)

            2c)

            3c)

Part III.

Then think of why this is important. What are the possible negative consequences if your audience is not persuaded by your argument?

For example:  This is the future of this nation (currently too big)

_________________________________________________________________________________

Break this concept into three by explaining how it relates to what you have laid out before.

Ex: We will become robots that have relinquished total control of our minds to a system that doesn’t truly care about our well-being.

2)
